Founded in 1897, Soongsil University has grown through a history of challenge, faith, and perseverance. Rooted in a strong Christian identity, the university upheld its convictions during the Japanese colonial period and rebuilt its Seoul campus after the Korean War, continuing its legacy of education and service.

Soongsil has produced more than 90 nationally recognized independence activists and has played a leading role in Korean higher education since 1954. Today, the university is recognized for excellence in fields such as information technology, entrepreneurship, social welfare, labor relations, and Korean reunification studies.

Guided by the vision of missionary William M. Baird and sustained by the dedication of the Soongsil community, the university continues to educate future leaders and advance toward a new era of global growth and innovation.
